A lesson for all governments to tackle pandemics in future

In India, the first three covid cases were detected in Kerala. Being densely populated, all could expect only a doom. But it's government changed the fate presenting the epitome of heroic leadership others could follow. The government officials are well educated in Kerala, with 94 % literacy rate in the state. Dealing with covid, how did they flatten the curve through epic levels?

Their preparedness is one of the reasons. In 2018, the state dealt with an outbreak of Nipah, a brain damaging virus. Getting insights from it, the intelligent government started a big campaign named 'Pakarchavyadi maranangal illatha Keralam' which means 'Kerala with no deaths from contagious diseases'.

They built a strong public healthcare system with decentralized nature ensuring presence of public health centres in every panchayat, taluk and zillah aiming quality care for individual families. It's health care system is ranked best in India. Considering covid seriously and with this properly setup system, they easily tackled the pandemic. They traced, tested and chased every potential patient thereby curbing spread. They also immediately isolated anyone in the chain with symptoms thereby breaking the chain.

We wish no more pandemics in the world but it is never wrong to be prepared for the future.
