Mastering English is not going to happen by accident. Increasing your vocabulary is the key, to achieve fluency. I embrace grasping new words everyday. I would like to share a few words that I recently encountered. I added them to my vocabulary list.. If u don't know any of these, go on, learn them now and start using .....😊


Absurd      - Wildly unreasonable, illogical, inappropriate or ridiculous
                    (eg) It is absurd to believe that the number 13 is unlucky.
                         
Aka           - Also known as
                    (eg) Ooty aka queen of hills.

Alley         - A narrow passageway between or behind buildings
                    (eg)The alley led to the railway station.

Credible    - Able to be believed or convincing
                    (eg) I am not sure that I find her story credible.

Decor        - The furnishing and decoration of a room
                    (eg) The decor of this room is amazing.

Debut        - Perform in the public for the first time
                    (eg) She made her professional stage debut in San Francisco.

Defer         - Put off to a later time or postpone
                     (eg) Customers often defer payment.

Ensemble  - A group of musicians, actors and dancers who perform together.                                                                                   (eg)The ensemble is based in Lyons.

Flaw          - A mark, blemish or other imperfection
                     (eg) A design flaw caused the engine to explode

Infamous   - Well known for some bad quality or deed or wicked
                     (eg) This area is infamous for drugs.

Inveracity  - A lie or untruthfulness
                     (eg) Maybe one could admit his weak points, but never his inveracity.

Intimidate  - Frighten or overawe someone especially in order to make them do what one wants
                     (eg) The gang tried to intimidate the bank manager.

Profound   - Very great or intense
                     (eg) His father's death had a profound effect on us all.

Rhetoric    - The art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing
                     (eg) I was moved by her rhetoric speech.

Sceptical   - Not easily convinced or having doubts
                     (eg) Other archaeologists are sceptical about his findings.

Sassy        - Lively,bold and full of spirit; cheeky
                    (eg) She was sassy and smart, and all the kids liked her.

NOTE: The meanings of the above words might change with respect to the context.
